Can we fight off a new assault weapons ban?
With the Heller decision, pro-gun votes in Congress, and the filibuster, is the assault weapons ban dead before it gets off the ground? I am not sure. I think it will be a rider on a must pass economic stimulus bill. Plus, I think the Supreme Court will not touch it. We're doomed.
For those here who are bashing the Democrats, I'd like to point out that H.R. 6257: Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008 is solely sponsored by five Republicans.
I hope for everyone's sake that the bill never makes it out of committee.
