Steel Belt Can you mix steel belted radial tires and radial tires that lack the 'steel belted' term on the same vehicle?
This is in regard to a 2-axle trailer. It would be 3 radial tubeless tires and one steel-belted radial tubeless. Will the different tire construction matter?
This is on a 2 axle horse trailer and I do not drive faster than 55-60mph. I put 2 horses on it (about 2000 lbs total). The trailer is 10 yrs old and came new with the radial tires that do not say they are steel belted. I have never had a problem with them but I hit something and had a tire blowout, and now the tire store has given me this steel belted tire.
Could the tires that came with the trailer be steel belted even if they do not say 'steel belted'?

Whatever you do, don't mix different tires left and right. That even goes for same exact make and model but one could be worn and one new.
Basically anytime you have uneven (unequal) tires on left and right, you risk a spin out.

As for steel belted, all modern belted tires are steel belted. But again, don't mis brands, size, wear, etc. on left and right.
