I want to run to the woods. i know i can do it. i've read "wilderness survival for dummies" all the way through, ive made a survival pack, i love camping, and ive read my side of the mountain about 6 times, i have read all the hatchet books, and i have plenty of money.
i want to go to canada to live. i think it is a shame that no real wild places exist any more so i think i am gonna pretend to get lost in a natonal park/forest. i cant figure out how to get to canada though.

Please do not pretend to be lost in a National Park/Forest, this just places a needless strain on a budget that is already overstretched. Personnel waste their time and possibly endanger themselves looking for some one who is not even lost. You think you have the courage to go and starve to death in the wilderness but you don't have the courage to face up to your problems. People who go into the wilderness to runaway from their problems just find out that they just have a whole new set of problems.
Surviving in the wilderness is about solving problems, if you can't solve problems here why do you think you will be able to there where the stakes are life and death and you are in a totally unfamiliar environment.
Hint: A Greyhound Bus can take you to a border town and with all of your wilderness experience I'm sure you can find a way to travel cross country across the border. Buy life insurance before you leave.

I ve seen some videos of this machete and it looks good. but I was expecting to have a Sharp Blade out of the box but the edge is coated. I haven't got a sand belter, should I just take a file to it.
its a machette is not for decorative purposes. I dont really care aslong as it can chop through stuff. Ive seen a destruction test for this knife and it can take allot of shit.
i know other people have had the same issue, I think it just comes like this. I just want to know the best way to sharpen it properly wihtout a sand belter. if anyone does know why they do it on these knives, it would be intresting to know.
What is a "sand belter"? I have heard of belt sanders.
I wouldn't use a sander to sharpen a blade anyway. You want a good metal file. Hold the file at a 45 degree angle to the blade until you get it very sharp. Then switch to a good wet stone for the finishing touches. A sharp Kurkri can cut a free hanging 1" rope in one swing.

Kukri Machete what is a better machete, gerber gator or cold steel magnum kukri machete?
They are both good tools. I believe the Gator is a traditional "Latin American" machete, which is a very sound performer, both as a tool and weapon. But, the Cold Steel Kukri can deliver a much stronger blow due to the curve of the blade, once you get to know how to use it. I personally like the Kukri styles, and have used them to chop down trees before (small ones, not lumber jack types). Played right, they will cut some thick vines and limbs with one strike.
If given my choice, I would probably go with Cold Steel, in any form, over Gerber. My reasons are mostly due to where I live, and that Gerber is a military related name that the police and others are terrified of (it makes you a terrorist to them). Even small knives with military names, saw backs, and other trendy things scare the redneck locals and are best avoided, especially if you are unlucky enough to have served in the military (and are thus a psychopathic killer). I have also seen the Cold Steel videos, where they seriously abuse the blades, and they keep right on cutting though things they have no business cutting to begin with. I know with these tools, I have something I can trust further than other items, which I may be in a serious pinch.
